About Me

What has inspired me to join the multitudes of food/healthy lifestyle bloggers out there?  Mainly the fact that I love food so much that I drive those around me to distraction talking about it, so I thought it better to 'share' with some (hopefully) like-minded people who might appreciate my ramblings.

Secondly, I just got back from a three month trip around the world where I had many wonderful experiences (a large proportion revolving around food, naturally), which I would love to write about and ensure I remember.  The fact that my credit card bill for the trip almost exclusively lists restaurants and supermarkets is a testament to my obsession - yes, I slept in hostels, but I did not skimp when it came to meal time!

I am 30 years old and live in the South of England, back at my Mum's as I had to move here to save for the trip!  I spent most of my late teens and twenties on and off of various diets, fluctuating about twenty pounds in the process.  Over the last year or so I have been determined to get off of the diet treadmill and remember how to really enjoy food without counting calories or 'points', whilst maintaining a healthy weight and keeping fit.  I am still a relatively new convert to the gym and running, but I love how it makes me feel.

It is still all trial and error, but while on my trip I managed to stay healthy without dieting, and all of the hiking and walking kept me toned!  The best thing is, after years of checking the scale almost every day (not good for mental health!) I currently have no idea what I weigh, and I don't care.  Who knows if this will last, but I am determined to stick to it.

A lot has changed since I wrote the intro above. I moved out of my Mum's two months later into a flat that turned out to be damp and horrible. So, I moved in to another flat that turned out to be lovely and cosy and lived happily there until I got the opportunity to buy my own house, thanks to my Mum.

As well as becoming a homeowner, I got a great new job last year at my company in Employee Communications and met a man through my new job. So, a lot has changed. I thought life was busy before! But, it's all good stuff and I'm lucky to have wonderful and supportive friends and family to keep me sane.

Keeping fit and healthy has been a constant goal, and I've managed to do it, with some wobbles along the way. So, what's the aim of this blog? It's about how I try to keep fit, enjoy my food and manage to balance work, my social life and making my new house the home I want it to be.

Oh, and I'm 33 now!
