I take requests

...tonight, for instance, I'm cooking prawn laksa for a friend after she spotted it on the blog and demanded I cook it. And cook it I will once I've updated you lovely people on my day.

It started with the 6am ritual, which was slightly less hideous because I went to bed at a decent hour last night. I faced Jillian down and came out smiling. It felt good to move properly after two days stuck inside in a seated position!

I broke the pumpkin porridge routine today and went with almond flour, almond milk, banana and defrosted frozen strawberries and blueberries with a sprinkle of dessicated coconut and cinnamon. Thick and creamy and lovely. I enjoyed it with Liquorice looking on longingly... for those of you who haven't met her yet, Liquorice is my tea cosy, bought for me by a dear old friend at a cider apple festival a few years ago. Tea cosies really work! And hot tea all morning makes me a happy camper.

I was determined to be cheerier at work today, but the rain bucketing down the second I walked out the front door did not bode well. Neither did the heavy traffic. Still, the Shuffle Gods smiled upon me and delivered Arctic Monkeys, Kanye West and Lauryn Hill all in a row, so I had a good sing-along and felt quite rejuvenated by the time I hit the office!

Tiny apple.

Smoked mackerel and samphire salad. Taken at a jaunty angle, just because I like you and just because I could.

I then set off home to work from there for the afternoon as my very lovely electrician was coming over to help sort out my kitchen socket issues. I set up in my little home office, with my swiss ball as a chair (working that core, people), but not before a very brisk walk to the seafront and back because... THE SUN CAME OUT! I couldn't miss that opportunity! I had another tiny apple and a square of Lindt 70% dark chocolate to tide me over until laksa time.

So, I need to shimmy and shake - have a little clean up, greet the boy, send him off out and greet my friend. A nice little evening ahead.

Question of the day? What are your winter survival tips?

I need some, but one is to make sure I soak up any ray of sun that chances my way!
