Today's two-minute 6am excuse not to do Jillian's DVD was that I could do extra at the weekend instead... I didn't buy it and trudged down to do week four of Ripped in 30. The title goes some way to explain why I try and come up with excuses to avoid this torture! Still, it keeps me ticking over and saves me £40 a month at the gym. I certainly think I get just as good a workout as I used to there, and you can pick up Jillian Michaels' DVDs for £5 on Amazon. More money for food and wine. Sold!
Breakfast used up the rest of the canned pumpkin, which I feel pretty 'meh' about. Won't go out of my way for it again. It's very bland in itself. It's all the spices people add that makes it taste good in pie, I think. I also had banana, ground almonds (almond flour), almond milk and frozen fruit I remembered to defrost for once!
I just realised it looks like Owl is scoffing my tiny apple. But he knows better. I don't share food. Not even with a cute crochet owl.
Lunch was the usual salad - jumbo king prawns, kale, tomatoes, beansprouts, carrot, cucumber, beetroot, pepper, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Nice and crunchy, which my colleagues can probably attest to. Sorry!
Two plums followed. Not pictured, but you know what a couple of plums look like.
I had a busy afternoon ahead (I know! On a Friday! Give me a break!) so took advantage of the glimmer of sunlight and went for a nice, long walk with my friend - just what I needed after endless days indoors this week. The busy afternoon that followed flew by and before I knew it I was kissing my sweetie goodbye and heading for an evening home alone. I was starving when I got in so crunched the usual carrot (or two) and then hopped to having a bit of a sort out and getting dinner on.
My wonderful Mum gave me this beautiful snug sofa. It makes my lounge. I also have a new armchair and chandelier and my bed for the spare room back. With that and my kitchen electrics being finished this week it's truly feeling like home now. I love it. Just one more day of decorating hell to get through (don't worry, I'll be dragging you along on that ride!).
For dinner I chopped up some sweet potato and broccoli, sprayed with olive oil spray and sprinkled with chilli flakes and pepper. 200 degrees C/gas mark 6 for 30 minutes, turning once. When they were done, and I was done mopping and hoovering (the last of this week's housework!) I fried up a couple of eggs. We've started buying eggs from the butchers and the yolks are soooooooo creamy.
'Egg and chips'. God, that sweet potato is GOOD.
Tonight's plan is to relax, catch up on the blogs I love and watch The Secret of Crickley Hall which I recorded from last Sunday. I love a creepy mystery. I'm looking forward to a fairly low-key weekend, which is much needed.
It feels like a bit of an inbetween time at the moment - not close enough to Christmas, dark and a bit gloomy. Despite that, I'm finishing the week feeling quite cheery. I hope you are, too!
Question of the day: Do you like to pack your weekends with activity or take it easy and lie low?
My perfect weekend involves no plans, but then I love seeing my friends and family and doing things... Really, I need at least an extra day!
